The Marquess Law Office was established in 2019 by attorney Mike Marquess and his legal assistant, Teresa Vodochodsky. Since then, the Marquess Law Office has expanded, adding attorney Wes Hoyer in 2020. In 2021, the office hired Nick Brune as a legal assistant. Wes Hoyer was named a Partner of the office in 2022.

Now known as Marquess & Hoyer Law Office, P.C., takes pride in being one of the leaders in both criminal and civil litigation. Our office has represented hundreds of individuals, families, and businesses in district courts across Iowa.

Who We Are

Wes Hoyer focuses on criminal defense, family law, and civil litigation. Wes believes in his clients, even if no one else will. Originally from Dakota, Illinois, Wes came to Iowa in 2013 to attend Coe College. Upon graduation, Wes attended the University of Iowa College of Law, one of the top 20 schools in the United States, where he received distinction as a skilled trial advocate. Wes joined Marquess Law Office in 2020 and was named a Partner in the office in 2022. Wes lives in Bondurant, Iowa with his husband Nick Brune, their rescue dog and three cats.
Michael Marquess Attorney A trial lawyer of over (20) years, Mike has handled thousands of cases as a private attorney, prosecutor, and Magistrate Judge. Mike’s knowledge and expertise spans numerous practice areas, including civil litigation, business law, contracts, family law, municipal, and real estate law. Born in Rock Island, Illinois, Mike travelled numerous times growing up in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Texas. Mike attended law school at Drake University in Des Moines, graduating in (2003). Mike has called Iowa home ever since. Mike currently lives in Marshalltown with his wife, and their two children.
Teresa Vodochodsky has worked in the legal field off and on for over 30 years. She then ran her own daycare business and was employed by places that allowed her to be actively involved in the busy schedule of her children. She found herself back in the legal field in 2015. She then joined Mike in opening Marquess Law Office in 2019. Teresa’s degrees come from Des Moines Area Community College in Business & Marketing, Marshalltown Community College in Social Services and Buena Vista University in Psychology and Organizational Leadership. Teresa has lived in Iowa all of her life, she is a mother of four adult children, and has resided in Tama County since 1994, with her husband, Danny.
Nick Brune joined the Marquess Law Office in 2020 after previously working in both the private and public sectors. Nick is an Iowa-native and grew up in the Cedar Rapids area. He attended Kirkwood Community College before transferring to the University of Iowa where he completed his bachelor’s in political science. Nick lives in Bondurant, Iowa with his husband Wes, their rescue dog, and three cats.
